Habitat description

Mostly headwater streams, but also seeps, springs and possibly standing waters, shaded by forest. Usually with coarse detritus, often emergent vegetation and a soft (like muddy) bottom, and probably especially calmer sections (like pools) also with submerged roots. From 0 to 700 m above sea level, but possibly up to 1200.
