Diagnosis

Male is similar to P. hageni by (a) seldom pruinose, at most (partly) on thorax and Abd base; (b) entire dorsum of S7 black, rarely with small apical marking (in which case antehumeral stripe often half as wide as mesepisternum); (c) cerci with lower branch not bent inwards but in line with upper branch; lower branch bearing flange that ends with 1 tooth near base. However, differs by (1) ranging from NE DRC to W Africa; (2) postclypeus blue with black base, rather than all black; (3) branches of cerci very short (lateral view). Habitat description

Streams, but possibly also headwaters, shaded by gallery forest, but possibly also in open landscapes. Often with emergent vegetation and probably submerged roots and a sandy bottom. Inferred to occur from 200 to 1400 m above sea level.
