Eastern Red-tipped Jewel

Type locality: Mt Cameroon, Cameroon

Diagnosis

Male is similar to C. seydeli by basal Abd segments blue or white, while terminal segments (usually S6-10) are red. However, differs by (1) more widespread and distributed through N and C DRC to Cameroon; (2) branches of antehumeral stripe broadly separated rather than joined; (3) tibiae all black, rather than white anteriorly; (4) S2 extensively black at base and apex rather than largely pale. Habitat description

Streams shaded by forest, but sometimes in clearings. Often with dead trunks or branches and a sandy and/or soft (like muddy) bottom, and probably submerged roots, coarse detritus and/or a gravelly bottom. From 0 to 800 m above sea level, but possibly up to 2600.
