Type locality: Bissau, Guinea-Bissau
Diagnosis
Male is similar to O. microstigma by (a) thorax without whitish stripes; (b) Pt usually shorter than 3 mm, 9.5% of Hw length or less; (c) membranule dark; (d) Hw base with yellow or amber patch; (e) lobe of hamule very low and obtuse, space between it and hook at most right-angled notch. However, differs by (1) being restricted to savanna and woodland; (2) smaller size, Hw 25-31 mm; (3) labium and labrum all pale, rather than partly black; (4) Hw base at most pale amber; (5) subcostal Ax and Pt usually pale rather than dark; (6) hook of hamule narrow and triangular, usually bent forward rather than outward. Habitat description
Standing and often temporary waters, headwater streams, seeps and springs in open landscapes. Often with emergent and usually aquatic vegetation, and a soft (like muddy) bottom. Inferred to occur from 0 to 1800 m above sea level, but mostly below 1400.
