Diagnosis
Male is similar to P. schoutedeni by (a) posterior hamule stout, its posterior border semi-circular; (b) S4-6 all black or with yellow basal spots or rings; (c) cerci at most 1.5x as long as epiproct; (d) apices of cerci broad and truncate. However, differs by (1) ranging from W Uganda to Gabon; (2) larger size, Hw 40-47 mm; (3) face including occiput all dark, with isolated green markings; (4) S4-6 all black, sometimes with pairs of small yellow basal spots; (5) S10 red-brown, denticles on dorsal ridge directed anteriorly, lateral excavations of apical border fringed with hair; (6) cerci brown, paler on tips, scarcely longer than epiproct, with rectangularly kinked outer border. Habitat description
Streams in open areas in forest, but sometimes shaded. Often with a sandy and/or probably soft (like muddy) bottom. From 300 to 1200 m above sea level, but mostly below 900.
